Universidad APEC

APEC University is the first institution of Action Pro Education and Culture (APEC), constituted in 1964 when businessmen, merchants, professionals, and men of the church, decide to create a non-profit entity, driving higher education in the Dominican Republic. It was born with the name of Institute of Superior Studies (IES), and, in September of 1965, it created its first Faculty with the Schools of Business Administration, Accounting and Executive Secretariat Spanish and Bilingual.

In 1968, by means of Decree No.2985, the Executive Branch grants the benefit of legal personality to grant higher academic degrees, with which the Institution reaches the University category. On August 11, 1983, the APEC Board of Directors, through Resolution No. 3, adopts a new symbol for the Institution and its identification as APEC University (UNAPEC). Subsequently, the Executive Power authorized this change of name through Decree No. 2710, of January 29, 1985.
