How safe is Argentina for female students?

I have traveled to Buenos Aires in the past and I will say that I never felt unsafe when I was there. For the most part, Buenos Aires is much like all other major cities around the world. It has its good parts and not so good parts so students, both female and male, have to be mindful of their surroundings. For female students specifically, my advice would be to avoid traveling alone late at night and to download the State Department’s STEP app so that they are connected to the US embassy and get email updates of what is going on in the city.

In my opinion, students should implement safe travel practices everywhere in the world. But from a gender standpoint, being a female student in Buenos Aires would be no different from being a female student in New York City.

I hope this information helps, here is a link directly to the State Department Travel Advisory page on Argentina - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-tr…
I use this as a resource whenever I receive safety related questions.
