Can I teach special education without a special education specific degree?

I have a four year degree in Psychology and I currently teach Psychology in school, with Sociology to A-level (final year of Secondary school). I have also gained 6 years post graduation experience working in an adolescent psychiatric in-patient unit; as well as a special needs school for ages 3-18.
I also currently hold a post within an international 'resource' school- therefore I teach children in a mainstream setting with a range of disabilities including Autism, ADHD, Learning Difficulties and Downs Syndrome. Please let me know if I would be suitable for teaching in a Special Needs School.
