Satisfied!

Working with Pause Group was an incredible experience. The process was straightforward, and their team offered exceptional support. Assigned to manage the online presence for one of their businesses from the Bali marketing office, I quickly learned that Pause Group is all about precision and excellence. Their detailed critiques and guidance were instrumental in my growth. I had the privilege of working alongside seasoned marketing professionals, and the depth of my learning is truly immeasurable.

Beyond the work, my time in Bali was truly memorable. The organized events, the positive work environment, and the people I connected with were outstanding. The extended stay provided a rich opportunity to experience Bali's multifaceted identity, from its authentic local traditions to its lively tourism and expat scenes. I highly recommend Pause Group!

Marketing Internship with PAUSE

Interning with the marketing team at Pause Group was an exciting mix of creativity, data, and real-world brand work. I helped brainstorm content ideas for upcoming campaigns, assisted in writing copy for newsletters and social media. One of my favorite tasks was helping audit the brand's visual consistency across platforms. I also got to sit in on strategy meetings where we analyzed past campaign performance and discussed upcoming trends. The experience helped me connect the dots between creative ideas and strategic execution. I like that I always felt like a part of the team. See you guys on my next trip to Bali!

I walked away not only with an improved portfolio but also a deeper understanding of how digital strategy drives a brand forward.

fantastic experience

I had a fantastic experience with Pause Group. The process was easy, and the team's assistance was wonderful. I worked with the marketing team in the Bali office and was assigned to manage the online presence of one of their many businesses. Pause is a company about details - so I was given a lot of helpful critiques and direction. I was able to work alongside experienced marketing professionals and I cannot even begin to summarize all that I learned!

My time in Bali was equally memorable. The events, the work environment, and the people I met were great. The extended time in Bali was nice because, I got to experience a diverse mix of local entertainment and traditions along side the tourism and expat lifestyles. Kudos to Pause Group!

Great Exposure to Web Development and Digital Marketing

I worked on both the front and back ends of live websites, contributed to SEO improvements, and even helped track real-time user data through Google Analytics, Tag Manager, and Ads. It was the kind of learning you can’t get from a classroom—problem-solving on the spot, collaborating with the marketing team, and seeing how design, code, and SEO all connect. The team was supportive and gave me space to grow, experiment, and take ownership. If you're looking to build your skills in a creative and fast-moving environment, Pause Group is a great place to start.

What was your funniest moment?
I once tried to impress the team by ordering lunch in Bahasa at a small warung. I accidentally ordered “nasi campur pedas banget” — super spicy mixed rice. The owner gave me a knowing smile, and I thought, “Nice, I nailed it.” After the first bite, I was sweating, crying, hiccupping, and questioning my life choices, haha! Thankfully I love spicy food but this one was too much for me!
Pros
  • got to build my condifence
  • learned a lot from my mentor
Cons
  • beach envy - sometimes its hard being in the office 9-5 when you're living in Bali

So happy I found this group - a really diverse internship

The sales internship gave me real, hands-on experience—talking to customers, learning to pitch, and actually seeing results. I got to work mostly with sales for their catamaran business. It was a really nice mix between out selling and computer work. I was out meeting people, exploring different islands, and learning how sales works in a super dynamic environment. The team was welcoming and fun, and the balance between work and island life made the experience unforgettable.

The destination is definitely a no brainer, but also be prepared to work! Its a professional, fast-paced company that is always looking to drive results, so be ready to bring your ideas to the table and make things happen. If you come ready to work, you're going to grow so much professionally and get an incredible experience for your resume (and your life!).

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I had some extra time to explore mainland lombok and it may be one of Indonesia's best kept secrets. It's really a beautiful island... you can hike Mt. Rinjani (the volcano), theres surfing in Kuta and some INCREDIBLE beaches, theres handicraft in a local weaving village, and the snorkeling off the the east coast of Lombok is some of the best I've seen. I couldnt believe I hadn't heard of Lombok before because everyone is always talking about Bali.
Pros
  • Island life, sunshine, snorkeling, blue waters
  • Incredibly engaging and fun experience
Cons
  • Island life can be a bit hard - try to plan some free time in Lombok

A truly unique and rewarding experience

Interning with PAUSE group in Bali was an incredible opportunity to gain sales experience. I had the chance to work across several sof their locations - Bali, Nusa Lembongan, and the Gili Islands, which offered both professional growth and an unforgettable cultural experience.

I was given a variety of responsibilities focused around client outreach a partnership development with local businesses. The team was supportive, encouraging, and genuinely invested in helping me learn and contribute in meaningful ways. What made this experience even more seamless was the fact that PAUSE group handled the visa process and provided all necessary documentation for academic credit.

This program is ideal for students, recent graduates, or anyone looking to grow their sales skills while experience a global destination! It was an incredible blend of career development and personal adventure. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering an international internship.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would set my internship dates for longer!
Pros
  • Real sales experience, not just busy work
  • Made some incredible connections and friends from all over the world
  • Visa and help with travel questions provided
Cons
  • Some of the comforts of home aren't available - especially if you're stationed on the islands
  • Internet can be spotty in some locations

Got to work with beautiful businesses!

I spent three months interning with PAUSE in Bali alongside their web developer. It was an amazing opportunity to practice on real websites... I went in as a WordPress web designer focusing on front-end development but came out with so much knowledge on SEO, marketing, ads, Google Analytics, and user analytics! It was really nice working with them because they are still quite small, so I was trusted to take the lead on some of my own ideas while being specifically directed on other projects.

Of course, living in Bali for three months was also a dream come true. I got to travel with them to the Gili Islands to get a feel for the businesses - while also being there for the opening of their new restuarant in Bali!

So thankful for this oppurtunity, maybe I can come back again? :)

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
For me, it was my first time doing any kind of program abroad so I was really nervouse about visas, choosing the right place to stay, how to get around - even how my cell phone would work in Bali... all of these little details were scary but they helped me to figure it out.
Pros
  • So much gained knowledge in my field
  • An open office space where I really felt like part of the team
  • Bali!
Cons
  • Traffic near the office can be heavy - I used local motorbike transport

Life changing experience

Being able to travel and live in Bali for 6 months was the experience of a lifetime. Pause is a dynamic hospitality group constantly developing new businesses. They provided me with a visa and communicated with my university for my school credit. I covered all of my personal expenses which were much more affordable than back home in Montreal. The internship coordinator was able to assist me in finding housing the was close to the office and within my budget. There is great local food and it was easy for me to make friends with other interns et Young solo travellers. Professionally, I was able to sit in on company wide brainstorming meetings, communicate with partners directly, troubleshoot business opportunities and be a real member of the team. I also had the freedom to explore the rest of Bali and its surrounding islands. Pause also has businesses in Gili which were the focus of my sales team so I also spent a lot of time there which was amazing.

What was your funniest moment?
The wildlife in Bali is nothing like what I am used to in Canada. The gecko visits, cow crossings, chickens everywhere etc added to the experience in a way I was not expecting.
Pros
  • Living in Bali
  • Affordable cost of living
  • Team environment
Cons
  • Humidity I was not used to

An amazing experience in a dream destination!

My internship experience was absolutely incredible. The team was super welcoming, supportive, and always ready to help me grow both professionally and personally. I had the opportunity to work on meaningful tasks, gain hands-on experience, and develop real skills in a stimulating and dynamic environment.

On top of that, the workplace is located in one of the most beautiful destinations you can imagine, a perfect balance between work and enjoying paradise. I highly recommend this company to any student looking for a rewarding, challenging, and unforgettable internship abroad.

What was your funniest moment?
There were so many fun moments during this experience, but one of the funniest was when we organized a content shoot on the beach, and the wind kept blowing away all the props and decorations. We were running after hats, baskets, and even a mirror that almost flew into the sea! Everyone was laughing like crazy, and it turned into one of the best team memories.
Pros
  • Super welcoming and supportive team
  • Working in an absolutely stunning location
  • Real responsibilities with opportunities to learn and grow
Cons
  • Sometimes island life comes with small challenges like slow internet or unexpected power cuts.
  • You need to be adaptable and independent, things move fast and responsibilities are real.
  • The work environment is super dynamic, which can be overwhelming at first but quickly becomes a great learning experience.
