VIDA is an awesome opportunity for any student who is interested in working in the dental, veterinary or medical fields in the future. Especially for future dentist and veterinarians because they get to be VERY hands on and assist in minor surgical procedures. Students on the medical teams are also very hands on as they get to take down patient clinical histories, perform physical exams & learn other medical tests while the doctors ultimately diagnose the patients. It’s a great way to make friends

Overall I enjoyed my experience in Costa Rica with VIDA, however there was one major issue I had on my trip. Two of the doctors (Daniel & Andrés) engaged in sexual activities with two young volunteers on multiple occasions, such as in the hotels, at the bar on New Years Eve after the trip leaders left & even DURING clinics. This behavior was EXTREMELY unprofessional & made many of the other volunteers very uncomfortable during the trip. Although the doctors were very smart & helpful, they need to grow up. By the last clinic day I had just about lost all respect for them.
