Participating in the High School Language & Cultural Immersion Program in China by GoAbroadChina was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Living with a homestay family made me feel like I was truly part of their household—they welcomed me warmly and treated me like one of their own. Sharing this journey with a friend who was also in the program made it even more special, as we learned and explored together every step of the way. From practicing Mandarin at the dinner table to celebrating traditional Chinese festivals, every moment felt genuine and unforgettable. My homestay family became my second family, teaching me not just their language but also their values, customs, and way of life. I loved bonding with my host siblings, helping to prepare meals, and even joining in community activities with them. The warmth and care they showed me made it easy to adapt and feel at home in a foreign country. Having my friend by my side also provided a sense of comfort and camaraderie as we navigated new experiences together. This program gave me not only language skills but also a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and a newfound appreciation for global connections. Looking back, I can confidently say that I didn’t just visit China—I truly belonged there, thanks to the love and support of my host family and the friendships I formed.
