The best spontaneous decision I’ve ever made

I joined SIP totally last minute. A close friend of mine was supposed to go with her sister, but when her sister couldn’t make it, she called me and said, “You should come!” — and I did. Honestly, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

From the very beginning, the SIP team was incredibly flexible and welcoming. They made everything easy for me, even though it was such a last-minute change. I felt like they really cared about making it possible.

I’m the daughter of Spanish-speaking parents, but I never learned the language growing up. This week helped me reconnect with that part of myself. The daily classes were super useful — we learned things that we immediately used throughout the day, during the activities and conversations. It made it so much easier to remember and make Spanish feel natural.

One of my favorite moments was the flamenco night. Having a professional dancer performing right in the house was unforgettable. You can really see the difference between a show made for tourists and a real, passionate performance. Dinner with the artists afterwards — asking them questions, listening to their accents, sharing stories — was something I never imagined I’d experience in a language program.

This program is truly special. The more people find out about SIP, the harder it’s going to be to get a spot. I recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their Spanish and live something genuinely unique.
