My name is Viet Dang, and I am the founder of Volunteer Vietnam. In 2004, I was teaching English at a school in Vietnam. There, I realized that my students really needed to practice speaking English with native or fluent English speakers. So, I reached out to call for international volunteers who spoke English to come and support my teaching programs. Volunteers came to Vietnam to help me.
During our time working together, I was deeply touched by the volunteers’ kindness and generosity. Their contributions significantly improved the quality of my work and created more learning opportunities for disadvantaged children. Some volunteers even suggested helping in other areas such as healthcare and social care for people in need.
I saw a great opportunity to develop a volunteer program that could contribute to improving the quality of life for disadvantaged people and give them a better future. I founded Volunteer Vietnam in 2004. Since then, more than 2,500 volunteers have joined our program. Our programs have provided humanitarian support to over 500 disadvantaged individuals in Da Nang city.
