Nutrition Abroad 4 Nutrition Students (NA4NS) invites undergraduate and graduate nutrition students to the beautiful island of Barbados. Students will become familiar with the Bajan culture, environment, foods and cuisine through a variety of cultural activities. In addition, they are given a comprehensive review of chronic diseases that impact the local population, such as hypertension, diabetes and chronic kidney disease and their nutrition management. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and develop essential nutrition assessment and intervention skills by working with local health organizations and designing and implementing community health programs.

Program Impact

Our nutrition program focus is on the prevention of high blood pressure through community offerings at local schools and community centers.
