About Program
Ethiopian Hospital Schools is a UK-registered charity which provides educational and emotional support to hospitalised cancer children and their familie in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We offer daily classes for our students, as well as bedside support for those who are too ill to attend class, enabling them to learn and play and have some respite from the reality of their daily lives. We provide a curriculum that is tailored to each student's needs, ensuring that they receive the education they need to succeed. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where our students can thrive, even in the hospital. Ethiopia faces a considerable challenge with a school dropout rate affected by health issues. These children often struggle to reintegrate into the education system after their recovery. Ethiopian Hospital Schools stands as a vital bridge, ensuring educational continuity and emotional well-being, ultimately reducing the risk of school dropout.

Program Impact
Educational Resilience: We empower children with cancer to maintain their education during hospitalization. Through educational sessions and one-on-one support, we've enabled over 260 young patients to stay engaged with their studies, preventing an educational gap that often leads to school dropout.
Emotional Well-being: Ethiopian Hospital Schools offers vital emotional support to both children and their families. Our efforts help families cope with the emotional strain of a cancer diagnosis, thereby reducing the emotional burden that can affect the overall quality of life.
Counselling Workshops: In a bid to create an even more supportive environment, we've organized counselling workshops, ensuring that doctors and nurses are equipped to provide emotional support to children and their families throughout their cancer journey.
