About Program

Volunteering with Local Hope is more than service, it's also a life-changing experience involving cultural immersion and exchange as you learn about the lives of the Mam-Maya, explore local markets, and work side-by-side with our local staff and the Xela AID kids, adults, and seniors in our programs.

The "Build-Your-Own" program is for those who wish to create their own custom itinerary per their own timeline. Accommodations are at our brand-new Eco Guest House. Options include meals; volunteer immersion; expertly curated cultural experiences and activities; and exploration of nearby communities.

We'll help you put your talents and interests to work so you can lend a hand in one or more of our programs empowering self-reliance, including Montessori Preschool • Study Center • Computer Lab • Special Needs • Medical, Dental or Optometry Clinics • Sports • Food Insecurity • Leadership Training • Adult Literacy • Environmental Issues • Senior Services • ESL or English Practice
