Unbeatable Experience

Volunteering on the hiking trails in and around Thorsmork was a phenomenal opportunity and experience. The scenery was breathtaking, the work was rewarding, the food was delicious, hearty and plentiful and the people were some of the best I've met.

We camped for six weeks throughout the program, an enlightening experience in itself, and worked a typical week from Monday to Friday on the trails. Typical work included anything from building steps and drains to pruning, clearing and better marking the trails. We also had a week off during which we hiked the Laugavegur trail.

Food, camping fees, bus travel and everything in between was covered as part of the program. The food in particular was magnificent and we never went hungry. I cannot recommend this program strongly enough, and I shall be returning in a couple of years.
