US Dept of State Internships Overseas Great Introduction to life as Foreign Officer

I interned at the US Embassy in Madrid (Internships are available in many US embassies throughout Europe, Latin America, and Asia). This experience was incredibly valuable in experiencing what life is like for a foreign officer and a career looks like in US policy while stationed overseas. While I am not pursuing a career in this field, I still found the internship extremely rewarding in exposing one to how embassies work, learning about the country and city in which you are stationed, and understanding US policy when stationed in another country.
