Take a year "on" not "off"

When I decided to take a gap year, I knew I wanted to travel. I wanted to learn useful things, while being fully engaged and immersed in new cultures and different conversations. Now that the year is over, I'm happy to say I did all of this and more. With Winterline, we created a community, little nomadic family. We met incredible, inspiring and hard working people along the way that thought us so much about the world we live in and even ourselves. I learned things that go beyond useful information and practical skills. Responsibility, independence, confidence, just to list a very few. Right now, I'm still processing how much I've grown as an individual and my place in this world. I still have no words to label what I've learned; but I know that in 10, 20, 40 years I will still be learning from the experience and the moments that challenged me the most. Now, when I say a year "on" instead of "off" I mean it. We did something new and exciting everyday, we motivated ourselves everyday. Learning it's not only about sitting in a classroom, it's about experiences. It's about going out there and being adventurous too! Winterline was the best decision I've made in my life, and now that I'm in university, I see how Winterline has made me into a better person and student :)
