A Design aficionado in Hong Kong

I spent 2 months interning at an advertising company in Hong Kong where I focus on Graphic Design & Photography. The work was challenging, yet rewarding. It is incredible luck to have such an amazing opportunity to live and work abroad, alongside like-minded people. They might not be from your own culture, but they are from your industry! So it is passion for your work that unites you! This is especially visible in the creative department. Colour and Design is a universal language! I especially liked seeing how my colleagues’ design styles diverged from my Western style. I feel like they were a lot braver when it came to using colours than me. It might sound odd to someone who has never had a similar experience, but let me tell you: Working in Design abroad will make you step out of your comfort zone! I experimented a lot with different colours and discovered foreign ideas of what the perfect portrait photo and editing style should look like.
If you are a designer, I can highly recommend doing an internship abroad at least once in your lifetime. It will open your eyes to new ideas and broaden your horizon. It certainly did for me!
