A Trip that Changed Everything!

How do you describe a trip that changed most everything? I volunteered with A Tree That Grow because I knew that I wanted to support children in Tanzania who were living with a disability to be more included in the classroom. I worked with the team to design an informal reading assessment for youth to help a teacher see where their students were at with their reading.

Before I left for Tanzania I signed up for the 2-month virtual program where I got Kiswahili lessons and learned about the amazing culture!

Tanzania took my breath away and it completely changed my life. When I got to Tanzania I was able to help the organization train teachers on the reading assessment, help students learn their reading levels and work with FUWAVITA to share this assessment with schools in Tanzania.

It was a once in a lifetime experience & I would recommend it 100% and I can’t wait to go back.
