The Visiting International Faculty program was created with the intention of hiring international teachers from all around the world to teach in US schools, in order to give the children a very important global perspective.

The VIF program organizes your visas, flights, subsidized health care, assists with finding accommodation and offers relocation loans. You are given a mentor to help you adjust to your new life and school in America.

The suppport from the program is excellent and they will place you in a school based on your teaching experiences and job availability.

You have to be a qualified teacher to be involved in the program and your day to day experiences include all those duties involved with teaching your own class or chosen subjects. Extra-curricular activites my be required as well as all the after hours work associated with teaching, such as planning, preparation, and marking.

Teaching in the US is very different to other countries, there is a big emphasis on teaching to the standardized test, due to the No Child Left Behind policy which can put a lot of pressure on the teachers and students.

You will find the staff and administration very helpful in assisting you to adapt and supporting you along the way.

The VIF program has a week long orientation before you commence your teaching to help you learn about the US system and prepare you for the year ahead. You are given ample opportunity throughout your stay to meet other teachers from around the world as well.

It is a fantastic way to live in the States, learn more about their culture, and share your culture with the students in America as well. They love learning about how other people live.
