Creating A Home Away From Home

I was able to explore independency in a safe space while also creating and joining another community. Exploring new foods, cultures, and languages helped expand my comfort zone and pushed me to be a more self confident and overall experienced person. My host family and I travelled to various countries while I was able to create friends both within my program and within school. We've created so many inside jokes and nicknames for each other, and we're essentially family at this point. I will say though, that everyone's experience is different, and that heavily depends on one's host family. Despite that, it is 100% an opportunity that I'd recommend to everyone.
