Great Experience!

I was initially nervous about this virtual experience because I had originally hoped to be able to travel for my international experience requirement but all of my worries were put to rest when I applied for this virtual experience. Right from the first day that I showed interest, I wasn't alone. They were constantly checking on me so I didn't feel lost. Carmen hosted meetings with us and while I wasn't able to attend all the time due to my schedule, She would send me emails to check up on me and make sure that I was doing well. At the end of the day, I found that I had no reason to worry in the first place. I will definitely be recommending this experience to everyone.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Just go in with an open mind and make sure to ask questions if you feel lost or need support.

Fantastic Experience!

I loved every second of my internship! I got an internship at a very supportive B2B company, and of course, Carmen has always been so helpful in making sure that our internship is going well and she was always there if we needed any help or had any difficulties in our internships. Even though I couldn't attend some of the meetings due to my busy schedule when I had the time to attend it was always fun, educational, and very interactive. I highly recommend this program to anyone! Even though it's a virtual internship, the interaction and learning part of an international internship was all there! I really got to understand the working culture of the country I ended up working in. 10/10 fantastic experience.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The first day of my internship! I was very nervous to start working since it's a new place and it takes time to get to know the people you are working with. My supervisor was very helpful and understanding, so getting over the nervousness was very easy!

Phenomenal Experience

This experience provided me with so many resources to use after I graduate. Global Experiences helped me throughout the entire interview process into the actual internship. From the start the staff at Global Experiences worked with me to find the best match for me. I had multiple phone calls discussing my options. Once we pinpointed a great match, I was coached with tips to have a great interview.
Once I was partnered with a good internship, I had regular check-ins where I was given advice and could talk to other students enrolled in the program. I left the program with new skills for engaging in a work environment.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Enter the experience with an open mind and willingness to try something new.

Virtual Internship - A beneficial experience to my career

I was amazed at how much I was able to learn during this internship! My skillset increased by large and I was able to gain independence as I worked from home at my own pace. I was able to discover new things about myself and realize more of where my passions were which has helped me realize what I want to accomplish in life. The system I had was also very supportive and helped to guide me through the process if I ever needed help. Through this program, I was also able to connect with other people from around the world which truly helped to make this a global experience.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Being introduced to new platforms and having to learn how to do new things all at the beginning, but with time and practice I was able to overcome it and have a successful internship

Great virtual experience

Becoming a virtual intern was not my plan initially but I believe it was the best option given the circumstances, and in retrospect I can say it has given me a new perspective in my professional life, not only because it was virtual but also because it was with an overseas company. Global Experiences continuously nourished this experience by providing supplemental videos, documents and meetings. They were constantly checking in and inquiring about the program and my work and responsibilities to ensure that it was a 10/10 experience, and it was!

What was your funniest moment?
In the beginning, my supervisor and I had a conversation about different languages as her primary language is Spanish and mine is English. After that, we would sign off our meetings in various ways, in English, spanish, german, etc. One time she suggested we use the idiom "see you later alligator." We laughed as we used it and continued to sign off with the idiom for the rest of the program.

Great Experience

This experience was great! Having different meetings with helpful input and discussion about resumes and work ethic really helped me get a better understanding of what to expect when entering the workforce. I felt as though I had a group of people behind me helping me all the way through this experience. I learned more about myself as an individual and as a worker and discovered my different strengths through this program. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would recommend it to all students.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Be willing to step outside of your comfort zone and listen to others and get insights from as many people as you can! There are a bunch of interesting people to talk to that can really expand your horizons.

Global Experiences Virtual Internship Experience

The experience provided with a wide variety of information about places which I have never been to before. Observing and adsorbing cultures I have not yet witnessed in person. This was quite a unique opportunity. Sadly, if not for the pandemic, I might not have gotten this experience, as I may have been more busy with local matters, thus losing out on this opportunity. As such, a virtual internship is one of the most comfortable ways of learning about foreign cultures. It saves you the hassle of travelling and immigration, while still providing plenty of interactions with the local public there.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
When I had to complete my research about agricultural policies of two cities within a week, but I had only managed to finish the first one by Thursday. I ended doing an article search for the same city as well to reduce the weekly load. And continued the policy + article research work about the other city in the week after that one.

A great experience with a lot of learning opportunities!

Overall, this program offered so many opportunities. From the pre-program support in resume, cover-letter, and Strength Assessment even before placement, to the virtual check-ins that offered career support and information, as well as networking time with other interns, there was so many valuable opportunities. Throughout the process, the team was so helpful, meeting with me to provide information and walk me through the preparation. Throughout, they also were very clear in offering support in the program.
