About Program

Our Combined Level 5 TEFL Certificate (168 hours) is regulated by Ofqual (UK) and approved by the DEAC (US), so has official recognition from 2 government-recognised bodies! This makes all the difference when applying for jobs.

This course will give you a strong understanding of what employers are looking for. Complete 10 hours in the classroom in addition to 158 hours of online study. Some teachers prefer to have some in-class experience besides online study, so our combined course gives you exactly that.

You will learn so much from other students in the classroom and have the opportunity to actually teach! The 10-hour weekend class is designed to break down the fundamentals of TEFL.

My Best decision of the year!!!

It is an excellent course! I am so happy with my whole experience. Although my profession is a teacher of foreign languages, I have found there lots of interesting information regarding the teaching methods to students from the other countries. It provides the well-thought and comprehensive materials for revising grammar and teaching different stages of the lessons to the students of different levels. Everything is explained in a very detailed way, so even for those, who did not study languages before, it will not be a very big problem to study the course and complete it successfully. Completing the course, has opened for me wide job opportunity all over the globe. To take it was, perhaps, the best decision I've made this year. Sincerely recommend it to every one who wants to travel the world and teach English.

TEFL Academy

I recently completed my online TEFL Level 5 course. The course is well structured, easy to navigate and understand. Certain sections were challenging but definitely worth it. There is a vast selection of additional resources to assist you on your learning experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the two day classroom practical, Judy was awesome. Professional staff and prompt responses at all times. An overall enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend this course to those who are passionate about English.

Combined Level 5 TEFL - The TEFL Academy

The course was interesting and challenging. The weekend course was fun and it was good to meet other people doing the course. The materials were well structured and easy to follow. I was already a qualified teacher so some of the content was covering things I had done before. I would have liked more input on how to teach a lesson with demos and TPR to prepare me more for job interviews and for eventual work. I liked the quizzes to check knowledge. The assignments took me much longer than I expected. The feedback was helpful and constructive.

What would you improve about this program?
l would have liked more on TPR and more demo lessons as I still feel under prepared to get a job.

April 2020 - The TEFL Academy - Level 5 TEFL Course

The Course was well presented and layout from initially signing up to getting my final grade. The structure was perfect, I covered all the topics I would have expected and more. Lots of additional resources and information for future help. The course was very quickly adapted to the current COVID-19 situation, the weekend course was condensed into a 10 hour online lesson. Very informative and helpful, also means that I am no longer waiting to attend a weekend course and further delay my plans to teach!

Level 5 TEFL Course (168 hrs)

This is a good comprehensive TEFL course, very well structured and packed with content - everything you must know to start teaching English. I really enjoyed completing it - all the information flows logically and the collection of extra resources is extremely helpful for deepening the knowledge. I had no previous teaching experience but after completing this course I felt comfortable teaching 1:1 straight away. I am now in the process of setting up my own business. A very useful course for all the future teachers.

What would you improve about this program?
Some of the content may feel repetitive at times but it's one way of drilling all the new information.

Good Course

I found this course really helpful. Due to the online nature of the course, you have to be self-motivated in order to get through the content and learn it. The end of unit quizzes don't necessarily ensure full understanding, which is where you have to be accountable for your own learning. The assignments are a really good way of becoming accustomed to planning a lesson, including preparation of materials. The 20 hours of classroom experience was really enjoyable and a good place to have any questions answered.

What would you improve about this program?
If possible maybe more interactive learning materials than the unit presentations and end of unit tests, eg. something to enforce learning rather than just reading. But overall very happy with the course.

A thorough course

The level 5 160 hour course is one of the most thorough, detailed online courses I have ever done. The individual units are easy to navigate around, and the interactive element ensures learning has sunk in. The three assignments are quite daunting at first, however the instructions & example templates you download, are helpful.
Some of the units are more detailed than others, however doing your own further reading & research is recommended & helps with understanding.
I would recommend this course!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Do your own individual research/ further reading to ensure you have a decent grasp on all of the units.

Excellent course

Between 1990 and 1996, I freelanced teaching English in Italy to single students for approximately 6 years. The TEFL Academy offered some excellent tools to potentially extend that work experience to classroom work.
The course was well structured and informative. And support was always at hand.
I would genuinely recommend the Level 5 course particularly to ESL teachers aiming at working with groups of students.
I also found the fee charged for the course very reasonable for the quality of material offered.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Tackling the first assignment which, eventually, turned out to be less challenging that what I initially thought.
