About Program

Our Combined Level 5 TEFL Certificate (168 hours) is regulated by Ofqual (UK) and approved by the DEAC (US), so has official recognition from 2 government-recognised bodies! This makes all the difference when applying for jobs.

Our course is designed with potential employers in mind. Within the industry, some employers prefer “hands-on” study rather than purely online. This is why our combined course provides 10 hours in the classroom with an additional 158 hours of online study. This course will give you the confidence you need for the classroom and allow you to have a competitive edge in the job marketplace.

The 10-hour weekend classroom course is designed to break down the fundamentals of TEFL. Within those 10 hours you will have teaching opportunities while also gaining knowledge from other students in the classroom.

The TEFL Academy level 5 review

The TEFL Academy provides an excellent level 5 course. The course covers a wide variety of topics in a way that is easy to understand and fun to learn. The end-of-unit knowledge test, along with the interactive activities throughout the course, was a fun way to test myself and my understanding.

Some of the information seemed very self-explanatory and a bit unnecessary but that might just be a personal opinion.
I only asked for assistance once during my course. I needed help finding an answer to a specific question in my end-of-unit test and I was assisted within an hour of sending my question through.

I really, really enjoyed the 3 assignments because they allowed for creative freedom with some of the activities. I also appreciate the extensive review I received on all my work.

I would highly recommend The Tefl Academy to anyone who is looking to go into online teaching or teaching abroad.

My experiences and thoughts

Throughout my time studying through TTA, I found it a great joy that the way the program is set up... There is no room to fail, with the help and support from technical, administrative and academic branches. It provides you with an amazing range of helpful guys and resource packs to help guide you through each. You can track your progress easily, and the course allows you to work at your own pace, which is especially useful if you're balancing other commitments and makes it easier on those who are young to explore, adventure and experience new things. The course content is clear and practical... not just academic waffle. It teaches you how to teach, not just the theory behind it. Grammar, lesson planning, classroom control, how to teach speaking and listening… all covered in a way that makes sense even if you're not a born teacher. If you’re thinking of getting TEFL certified, I’d definitely recommend The TEFL Academy. It’s a solid course, fairly priced, and gives you everything you need to get started teaching English—whether it’s online or in another country. So, I recently wrapped up my TEFL course with The TEFL Academy, and let me tell you — it wasn’t just a box-ticking exercise. It was actually a surprisingly solid and even enjoyable learning experience.

I went in with zero teaching experience and a vague plan of maybe teaching English online or travelling abroad to teach, and now I feel genuinely prepared to step into a classroom and not completely panic. The certificate you get at the end is a Level 5 qualification, so it’s widely recognized and accepted by employers in lots of different countries.Signing up was easy, and I was able to start the course almost immediately. The course itself is broken into bite-sized modules, and the online platform is smooth nothing flashy, but clean and easy to navigate.

What was your funniest moment?
My funniest moment was not knowing how to get into my account and I was scared, I thought I could never get in but the Academy really helped me out by even giving me access to change my password whenever I want...
Pros
  • The price is one thing I can say really helped me out once I heard about it I had to grab the opportunity
  • The quizzes that really test your knowledge if you not sure about your understanding
  • The easy access to materials and tutor support for guidance
Cons
  • There is no alumni WhatsApp group where we can talk to each other under the banner of the TTA... Well not to my knowledge
  • I honestly don't have any other issues regarding the study as a whole nor the institution.

My experience at TEFL Academy

Well my overall experience at the TEFL Academy was amazing yet challenging at some point. At first you might think the course is easy but no, it gets challenging as you progress through it but once you get the grasp of it, I dont think anything would stop you from passing the course. About the first live lesson, the experience was amazing and i met great people and the TEFL teacher had a great sense of humour and made the lessons enjoyable. With that being said, I really enjoyed my experience and the student support team were always patient with me and assisted me in almost anything that I didnt understand.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve-wrecking thing I did there was to present our lesson. Well I was shy at first and there was just a lot of unfamiliar faces which made it more nerve-wrecking, but then i overcame it by just trying to not think about the faces and i took a few deep breaths and just went for it. What made it pleasent was the people who were around me because they just made the enviroment welcoming which made it a bit easier.
Pros
  • Easy to access website/dashboard
  • Reliable student support team
  • Video lessons
Cons
  • Long reading

A student's point of view..

When starting something new, one always feels unsure and hesitant. When looking back at the start of my TEFL Academy journey, I have to say that I never felt that way. With all the clear instructions and frequently asked questions I was able to have all the questions I had answered before I started studying.

I would recommend this course to anyone at any age. You have the chance to learn and practice at the same time!

Thank you TEFL Academy for the support and assistance, you are appreciated!.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
The one thing I would do differently is my time management. I would do the assignments in the order they came in the program and not wait till the very end to start doing my 3 assignments.
Pros
  • Easily accessible
  • Informative
  • Excellent quality

My experience with the TEFL Academy

I decided to study with the TEFL Academy after researching several different TEFL providers. Their level 5 qualification and positive online reviews made them stand out!

The course was well-structured and covered everything that you need to know about teaching English online and in a foreign country. I appreciated the mix of theory and practical examples. The platform was so easy to navigate, and I liked being able to study at my own pace. The tutor's support was quick and helpful. When I had questions, I received detailed feedback and guidance that helped me improve. The assignments were fair and challenging enough to ensure that I understood the materials. Also, the feedback from the assignments was constructive and I loved how it improved my skills. So after completing my course, I feel confident and well-prepared to start teaching. My overall experience with the TEFL Academy was positive and I would definitely recommend it to anyone serious about teaching online or abroad. I am super excited to start my new journey!

What would you improve about this program?
If there’s anything that I would improve about this program it would only be to have everyone sit in and watch how a lesson is planned out in action.
Pros
  • Flexible online learning
  • Well-structured course content
  • Tutor support
Cons
  • Limited real teaching practice
  • Feedback can be slow or generic
  • Job assistance not fully personalized

Knowledge in your Pocket

To complete the course was my gift to myself to refresh my learning abilities. I found the course to be informative and interesting, rekindling things that I had long forgotten. The online course was easy enough for me to navigate without too much stress as this was the first online course that I have done. Taking notes while working through the course material helped me when it came to answering some of the questions. Thought provoking and motivating I would recommend the course to anyone wanting to teach English to others.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I had to do this over again, I would make sure I completed the course in a shorter time period.
Pros
  • Refreshed my use of the English language.
  • Clear instructions and step by step guides
  • Interesting, keep me engaged.

Review on my TEFL experience

I have not received any position overseas yet, but my hope is to use the skills taught effectively. The coursework gave new, innovative methods to use in not just my English classroom but with all lessons I prepare. The course also provided a lot of course material that I can use for my classroom work. I also learned that English is not as easy as you thought. When having to teach it to others, there are many factors you need to consider when preparing for your lessons. Teachers also have to use a lot more interactive teaching styles that suit the learners.

What would you improve about this program?
Just that the instructions on portfolio needs to be more clearer, after you have failed 1st attempt.
Pros
  • Leaned new teaching methods
  • Relieved re resource material
  • How to adapt work you provide for my leaners
Cons
  • Alot of reading materials
  • Not enough time to complete assignments
