Our Combined Level 5 TEFL Certificate (168 hours) is regulated by Ofqual (UK) and approved by the DEAC (US), so has official recognition from 2 government-recognised bodies! This makes all the difference when applying for jobs.

Our course is designed with potential employers in mind. Within the industry, some employers prefer “hands-on” study rather than purely online. This is why our combined course provides 10 hours in the classroom with an additional 158 hours of online study. I was working in finance where I had no passion, time for travel and experiencing cultures and life.I wanted to pursue a career change however I was reluctant as I would have to study again and I did not think I would have time to do so and worried about risking it all to start again. However The TEFL academy extinguished all those fears,I feel that the academy has made me more than capable to achieve my dreams and goals internationally. I managed to finish while working and I'm ready to be a teacher and confident in my ability to teach and have a new start in life, because of my amazing experience my life partner has started the course and we are both ready to take life in our hands and live our international dreams.

The TEFL Level 5 course was very thorough and well structured. The sequencing of the units was well planned. The content covered in the course was well thought out and the examples given in each unit were sensible. At the end of each unit was additional resources which were extremely useful for students and these would certainly come in handy for students to use in their TEFL journey. The assignments at the end of unit 5,7 and 10 were pitched at the right level and students would be able to apply the new knowledge acquired to ensure they are able to answer them. I would definitely recommend this course for students that want a course that sets them apart from the rest when it comes to their TEFL career.

Initial intimidation and confusion due to the large amount of information

My experience was amazing as the customer service support and tutors were amazing. I would encourage potential students to do the combined course as the peer-to-peer teaching practice is priceless and has prepared me to teach and boosted my confidence. It feels like a real life teaching scenario so it is very beneficial and I still draw on that experience today and will continue to do so as I venture into teaching English.Try to manage your time well as you will have to pay for extensions if you don’t. Do not hesitate to get in touch with customer support or the tutors as they are very helpful.

I have learnt so much doing this course. I started at the beginning of the year and unfortunately had a few distractions so it took me a bit longer to complete it, however it was so worth it. I know feel so confident going into a new job teaching English overseas and I feel that I can always rely on the TEFL Academy to guide me in future endeavours. I was able to step out of my comfort zone and learn new ways of teaching and surprise myself by being creative. I would recommend this course for everyone as I think it is a great certificate to have if you ever want to try something new or travel. I can’t wait to use what I have learnt in my career going forward.

This course was very well put together, very well thought out and organised. This level 5 course was put in great detail. For someone with no teaching degree or teaching experience, this course brought out teaching capabilities I did not think I had. With the 20 hour, face to face part of this course, it really helped me to recognise how teaching could come so naturally to me. The materials are there to constantly go over when needed. When help is needed, they are easy and fast to reach. Quality.

I recently completed the TTA TEFL combined level 5 course and I had an amazing experience! The course is very well put together and I defenitely learned a lot! What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

The one piece of advice I would give is to plan ahead and to do your best. Worrying and stressing won't help you. The resources, as well as the markers, are there to assist and help you achieve your best. Planning ahead is beneficial as you do not want to get stuck with a pile of work and then have to ask for an extension. Just do your absolute best and you will reap the rewards.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

The TEFL course spanned over a period of 6 months which gave me ample time to complete my course accordingly. Some units take more time than others to complete, but if you plan and stick to that plan, you will not have a problem. The TEFL site also makes it easy and exciting to learn so that you do not get bored or frustrated during your study session.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I have no been abroad yet for TEFL teaching, but I am surely looking into it. I would love to travel to Asia, as I have been to India once and I absolutely loved it. I would like to visit Japan, South Korea, and China as a TEFL teacher and hopefully start my career there. I look forward to new experiences and challenges.

Any other tips for any prospective traveler?

India is a fantastic country, not quite like what I initially perceived it to be. The people are genuine and the country itself is a true wonder. My advice to anyone traveling there is to absorb as much as he/she/they can. India is rich with culture and history, full of diversity. Visiting places such as the Taj Mahal brings a totally different feeling, the atmosphere is spectacular. India is a beautiful country and so are its people.
