Q: Is the length of the volunteer program a factor in your decision?
A: No, the length of the volunteer abroad program is not a factor taken into consideration by the committee.
Q: How are scholarship funds distributed to recipients?
A: Generally, funds are sent directly to the volunteer program. This is to ensure funds are applied directly to program related costs. However, under special circumstances the funds may be distributed directly to the volunteer. Example: A volunteer creates their own volunteer program/itinerary to help a village in Africa.
Q: Is this scholarship only for North Americans volunteering abroad?
A: Absolutely not. Any and all nationalities are eligible to apply for the Go Volunteer Abroad scholarship. The Go Overseas editorial team will judge submissions based on the quality of the content, without regard to gender, race, or nationality.
Q: What is the application deadline for the Go Volunteer Abroad scholarship?
A: The current scholarship deadline is May 31st, 2013
Q: Can I apply for the scholarship with a friend or partner?
A: Yes, but you would still be awarded $500 rather than $1,000. If you apply as individuals, you would both be eligible to receive the scholarship. However, if you feel you can make a strong case as joint applicants, under certain circumstances this may strengthen your application.
