Volunteering abroad

Volunteering abroad was the best decision i’ve ever made. It was my first time traveling alone but I was never truly alone. I got the chance to meet so many other volunteers from all around the world who became like family to me and volunteering with the kids was so incredibly fun and rewarding. I never imagined I could make such genuine connections with people who don’t even speak the same language. Volunteering abroad provided me with so much joy and purpose and I can’t wait to do this again one day.

Amazing volunteering experience in Tanzania

Amazing volunteering experience with IVHQ!
I spent three months in Arusha, Tanzania, in the teaching program. Those three months were the most incredible and wonderful ones. I learned so many things about human beings and about me. The links I have bond with the people there are going to be in my heart forever.
I would jump on the plane right now if had more free time to go again. I recommend this experience to anyone who wants to give its time to people in need.
Thank you so much Tanzania. I will remember you forever.

Pros
  • The people you meet are wonderful
  • The organisation helps you in every step
  • The country has so much to offer

Childcare Arusha Tanzania

I stayed a total of three weeks in Arusha doing the childcare program and it is the best thing that has happened to me. From the moment you get there you feel like you are part of something. This program made me grow as a person inmesively and opened my eyes to the world, it made me realize that I want to do this type of stuff way more often and I think everyone MUST try it. The bonds that you make with other volunteers and staff are incredible and really my only regret is not staying longer. The childcare program is very well organised and the joy that it gave me doesn't compare to anything that I had previously done. Seeing the kids every morning with their huge smiles made my day everyday. If you are thinking of volunteering with IVHQ don't think anymore, just do it, you won't regret it one bit.

Pros
  • Getting to know people from all around the world
  • Experiencing a new culture and seeing an amazing country
  • Growing as a person and helping others.

Enjoyed enough to go again

I was most highly satisfied with my experience at IVHQ and TVE!!! The Community was more than considerate and hospitable to myself and others participating. I experience NO ANIMOSITY or harsh treatment towards others even though the building I stayed in had Latin Americans, Europeans, N. Americans, and Africans all dwelling in close quarters. The Housekeepers were impressively joyous and colorful in attitude and diligent in practice. The food was more and better than anticipated considering rate of stay and comforts offered. My placement was teaching Primary School Children general subject criteria as English language and Mathematics. I felt gratitude for the 8-11 year olds class (i judge about that age range) tolerance and subordination of my attempts to Teach them. I was and still am shocked at how much luxuries and opportunities i neglect. My stay was only two weeks yet the culture was inviting and comforting enough that I felt a bit of depression for about a week after I returned Home, this would indicate to me that the experience gave my body and soul something that it missed after leaving. I highly suggest anyone with
interest in volunteering to give IVHQ a try. I plan on trying to participate in another trip with their platform in 2024.

Pros
  • Welcoming, Considerate, Hospitable, Humane, Accepting, Non-Western life experience,
  • kind locals who provided enjoyable experience
Cons
  • Water needed filtered/boiled to drink

My Experience with IVHQ 5 Weeks Tanzania

Jambo, I'm Eden! In July 2021, I volunteered through IVHQ for 5 weeks in Arusha, Tanzania and it was the experience of a lifetime! From the moment I landed in Tanzania, I had amazing support from the local staff and the flexibility to make my experience the best that it could possibly be. Hope, the in-country volunteer coordinator was very attentive to my and all the other volunteers' needs, and offered all the support that we could ever need. IVHQ has so much to offer in Tanzania. I was housed with incredible people from all over the world, each who were put at a volunteer placement that was just right for them. On the weekends, there were numerous activities and excursions that I could sign up for, which allowed me to be even more immersed in the culture of Tanzania. From going on safari, to playing with the kids at my school, to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, everything about this program and this country is amazing! If you are considering volunteering in Tanzania, I would 100% recommended IVHQ!!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Be open to brand new situations and dealing with the craziness that is Tanzania. The country isn't perfect, and you will find yourself in situations that may test your patience and comfort zone, but it is so worth the lessons that you learn along the way.

IVHQ

My days at Tanzania where probably the best days of my life, I didn’t know I could learn that much in so little time. I was in childcare and teaching program and I learned more about the kids than they did from me, I realize how simple is to be happy and how important is to spread love, and just be happy. I was completely present in my 5 weeks in Tanzania, and I enjoyed everything. I will never forget the kids at my placement they are very special to me, the friendships I made the memories, and everything was incredible, I am looking forward to do another volunteer program with IVQH!!.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I climed de Kilimanjaro, it was the best experience ever.

IVHQ medical program in Tanzania

I volunteered with IVHQ Tanzania in the medical project. It was such an amazing and unforgettable experience! I learned a lot not only in the medical field but also as a person. I returned home with so many beautiful memories and the people I met will always have a place in my heart.
I would recommend this program with IVHQ to everyone who is longing for adventure and new cultures. You definitely won’t regret it.
The volunteer organization (IVHQ) made sure to make you feel safe all the time, and also to integrate you right in the culture.

What was your funniest moment?
I was doing a safari in the Serengueti Park with my friends, and in the night some hienas stole the chocolate and beers we left outside the tent. It was so funny! And kind of scary at the same time.
