About Program
Put your global education first! See Prague and start college at the same time on CIEE’s First Year Abroad program. Earn college credit during a 12-week semester, taking classes from a wide range of subject areas. Immerse yourself in the local Czech culture by engaging in activities and excursions with first-year peers and other CIEE study abroad students.
Design your own experience by staying in Prague for the duration of your program, or by studying in multiple locations via our fall + spring combinations. Along the way, you’ll develop skills and knowledge you simply can’t get in a U.S. classroom. Broaden your horizons, create relationships that last a lifetime, and return home to complete your college degree with a newfound confidence.

Program Highlights
- Participate in CIEE-organized tours around Prague to learn more about the many famous sites of historical and cultural importance, like the Jewish Quarter, Prague Castle or the Old Town Square.
- Cheer on a local sports team at a hockey game, watch an opera in one of the amazing baroque opera houses or learn to cook goulash from scratch at a Czech cuisine cooking class.
- Explore Kutná Hora, a UNESCO-protected medieval town which boasts a 14th century Gothic cathedral, medieval silver mines and a rather spooky church adorned with bones.
- Visit Terezín (Theresienstadt), former Jewish ghetto and Nazi concentration camp.
- Immerse yourself in Bohemian Paradise, a protected landscape area just an hour ride outside of Prague which is home to out-of-this-world sandstone rock formations and fairytale castles.
