About Program

BINA Gap Year in Israel offers high school graduates a unique opportunity to experience 10 months in Israel alongside Israelis their own age in Tel Aviv, Israel's most exciting city. Program participants will engage in meaningful social action in the community in which they live, and explore the Jewish bookshelf from a pluralistic and progressive perspective.

BINA: The Jewish Movement for Social Change strengthens Israel as a democratic and pluralistic society by emphasizing Judaism as a culture and the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam ("repairing the world"). BINA designs and implements programming for Jews around the world, with service-learning programs aimed to inspire lifelong appreciation and engagement in education and social justice.

BINA Gap Year is an English speaking track within an Israeli mechina (pre-army program). You will be integrating with your Israeli peers, planning activities together, learning Hebrew to improve your understanding, and building lifelong bonds

The best part about BINA Gap Year is definitely the full immersion with Israelis my own age! From the very beginning we ate our meals, volunteered, studied, traveled and spent our free time together. Everything was either in English, or we had support for Hebrew events, plus regular Hebrew classes.

The apartments are in the communities that we volunteered with, giving us an authentic understanding of the life of most Israelis.

No week every looked the same, so even with an intense schedule we were always kept entertained. I especially loved being able to built and run parts of the program for the rest of the group, always with the support of the staff.

100% would recommend for anyone looking for an authentic Israel experience in Tel Aviv!

What would you improve about this program?

More international participants - I loved being with the Israelis, but it would have been great if more countries were represented as well.

Our 5 day trip to the south - we planned it all ourself!
