Why Study English and World Issues in Africa?
This program takes students into the heart of Tanzania in order to gain a first-hand perspective of the social-political and economic challenges of regional development in Africa. At the core of our travels and studies will be our self-directed community service projects designed to offer students a variety of practical experiences to engage in community building and development.
Whether collaborating on alternative income generating projects, promoting health education, or engaging with local youth, students have the chance to participate in sustainable global change. Students also have the opportunity to reside at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, hike to the Pare Mountain and go on safari in the open plains of the Serengeti. The Journey to Africa program includes five weeks of overseas travel and learning to Moshi, Pangani, the Foothills of Kilimanjaro, and through the Serengeti.
