About Program
Two one-term internships are available annually to Dartmouth students at the Max Planck Institute for Neurobiology in Martinsried (near Munich) and the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Jena.
Candidates are selected jointly by the Departments of Biology and German Studies. Interns conduct significant research, both within a team and also on their own. In several cases, students have returned to the institutes for post-graduate work with support from a Fulbright Fellowship.
A stipend covers living expenses, and the Institute arranges housing. The internships are usually offered in the spring, although other terms are possible.
