About Program

As a Global Health or Medical intern, you'll be improving the lives of women and girls in rural Kenya by working in our women's health clinic and/or delivering public health programming to women and children within our community. Our current initiatives focus on making women's preventive healthcare such as cervical and breast cancer screening more accessible, increasing health literacy, and supporting survivors of gender-based violence. Previous Public Health interns have led program planning, implementation and evaluation activities for our EmpowerME program, a menstrual hygiene initiative which partners with local schools to reduce period-related school absences. Medical Interns will assist in our women's health clinic to gain insight into the many challenges affecting women in rural Kenya. Depending on the intern's training, duties may include assisting with patient intake, recording vital signs, observing or assisting with exams and procedures, and providing patient education.
