Why did you choose this program?

I chose Travel For Teens because I wanted to go experience a world outside of my own, but at the same time do it in a safe environment with peers.

I believe this program is absolutely perfect for those who are looking for their first experience with travel. Even if you don’t travel too much you can have a blast with this program.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

It is always a good idea to be physically fit before any journey because you will walk around and do so many things. Keep in mind that you may have some jet lag for the first few days so try to get as much sleep as possible. Drink a lot of water too.

What do you wish you had known ahead of time? What do you tell your friends who are thinking about going overseas?

I wish I would have started to travel the world sooner! I mean there’s so much out there and you might as well do it while you can. I cannot begin to explain the importance for experiencing other countries. It is your best teacher. You will come back with revelations about your own life in ways that you would never imagine.

I would tell my friends that what you put into travel is what you will get out of it. If you haven't been out of the country I would totally just go for it because there is only one way to find out. You may end up loving it like I did.

With a program like Travel for Teens there really is not any excuse because you will be around people who have your back.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

My biggest fear was just uncertainty of how this trip would go. I was once someone who didn't know the ropes and had never been outside the country without family. There is absolutely going to be some anxiety going in, but you must realize one thing. You’re ok. You can always talk to your counselors or call home if needed.

It’s about enjoying the trip, not over thinking, and embracing the moment.

Traveling tends to line all those things up naturally. You can do it! I will tell you this. Home was certainly the last thing on my mind while I was resting on shore enjoying the view of a distant boat as the waves of the Adriatic splashed my feet.
