Why did you choose this program?

I chose this program for many reasons. There were a few I looked over, but IVHQ definitely had the most affordable rates. During the whole travel process, they are always there. You can contact them at anytime if needed. They provide you with everything you need to feel completely safe! They are the most trusted program I came across. I would not trade IVHQ, and plan to go on many more trips with them.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

IVHQ assisted me with almost everything I needed! For both Tanzania and New Orleans, I was extremely prepared. They helped me book my flight, find travel insurance, prepare for my trip, and provided transportation if needed. They even send out a program guide, giving you advice for the program you chose. All I needed to organize was my personal belongings.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

When going to a new country, it can be scary. Always make sure to study the country you are going to. You want to make sure you are aware of their customs and culture before hand. IVHQ sends out a program guide specifically for your program. This guide includes some popular dialect, words and tips for where you are traveling. It will help out A LOT on your journey.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

Breakfast is usually early in the morning, around 7 am. IVHQ also provides you with a lunch you can pack for your placement. You then you travel to your placement, usually by bus or on foot. The program is a few hours long. After returning in the late afternoon, you have dinner and are then free to explore! Weekends are completely free for sight seeing and activities!

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

My biggest fear was to leave the country alone and travel somewhere completely new I’ve never been before. IVHQ was always there for me to contact if needed. They provided multiple cellphone numbers and email addresses I could contact with any questions that I may have had. I felt completely safe the whole trip.

Any last thoughts?

Fear is good! Never be afraid to travel. There are so many beautiful places in the world to see, and IVHQ is the perfect way to see them. Book that plane ticket and go! :)
