Why did you decide to study with API?

Liam: I studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland from early January 2012 to the end of May 2012, although I traveled for a couple weeks after that before returning to the U.S. in June.

I decided to study abroad with API because I knew that I wanted to study in Dublin, specifically at Trinity College, and they were the program URI recommended I go through. API offered a very comprehensive program package and provided me with excellent housing for my time in Ireland. They put me in a beautiful 3 story house right on the outskirts of city center with 6 other American study abroad students. Our resident director, Julia, was wonderful and was always available at any time if we needed anything. API also included several excursions in Ireland and one to Paris as well over the course of my stay, which allowed me to see more of the country and Europe.

What made this experience unique and special?

Liam: My study abroad experience was honestly the best 5 months of my life. I made some amazing friends that I met through API who I still am in touch and hang out with back here in the U.S. The city was incredible; Dublin is my favorite place on earth for countless reasons. The city itself is beautiful and full of history. It feels like a city without being intimidating; there aren’t any skyscrapers and I always felt safe walking around late at night by myself. The people are very friendly and love to chat with Americans. Studying at Trinity College was challenging but also fascinating and very rewarding. I was also able to travel extensively during my time abroad and saw some amazing things I never would be exposed to had I not chosen to study abroad.

How has this experience impacted your future?

Liam: This experience has profoundly impacted my future. I intend to go back to Europe as soon as possible and as I will be graduating this May (2013) I am currently looking for jobs abroad. I am also considering going to grad school abroad. My entire outlook has changed as a result of my study abroad experience and I honestly cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone who is considering it.
