What is your favorite travel memory?
My favorite travel memory is when I spent one month traveling in Yunnan province with my university classmates 20 years ago. To save costs, we took the slow train. We spent four days and three nights on that train before we finally arrived in Kunming.
I was in awe of the sky because it was so blue and transparent. The clouds were so white and low, seeming as if I could touch them. We spent a whole loving month in Yunnan province, visiting five cities, climbing snowy mountains, walking in the forest, painting and sketching from nature. All the details of the trip are still so vivid as if it was yesterday and I will never forget it.
How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?
MandarinSpring is a young company filled with creativity, energy, and enthusiasm. Since working with MandarinSpring, I’ve learned a lot and have had the chance to try new & different things that I may never have imagined before. I am happy working here with such an excellent team and excited to see all of our ideas succeeding and coming true!
What is the best story you've heard from a return student?
One student began to learn Chinese with us to start a business. She was a student at that time, and then became a part time teacher. With her improvement in Mandarin, she earned a better job as a sales specialist. Now, she is a hiring manager working in Shanghai. Because of this, I’m quite sure that she will have more opportunities awaiting her for better career development in Shanghai.
What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?
MandarinSpring is a flexible, open minded start-up in Shanghai. Everyone working here has their own different dream, but same goal. We’re young and creative. We all come from different cultural backgrounds, but remain a welcoming team that works together. Now, we hope to help more people who have the same goal to develop their career in Shanghai, China.
What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?
From my perspective, the best teams are always solution based. Everyone in the team should be their own leader and do the best job he/she can in order to contribute to the team. Each team member will help contribute and solve an issue. People learn from each other, support each other, and challenge each other to finally achieve the best solution. Everyone is unique and valuable in the company.
