What is your favorite travel memory?

My first trip overseas was really memorable, as my parents bought me a return ticket to Munich just after my matric (grade 12) year at high school so that I could visit an exchange student friend of mine.

It was on this trip that I learned how to ski on snow, how to use public transport, and also just how much things cost in Europe.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I feel that my sense of adventure has returned, and I have that "want to do good" feeling which is amplified by the people I work with. I don't have any family in Cape Town, with most of my family living abroad.

I feel that I now have a family, and a warm-hearted team to turn to in the form of my GVI colleagues.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

The best story that I have heard is that of a girl who, after having had a volunteering adventure abroad, decided to assist others to have the same experience she had, and joined GVI as a full-time staff member.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would love to go to the Seychelles to work with the giant turtles, and to get back into my diving gear again. Anything to do with the sea and the life therein suits me to a tee.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

What makes my company unique is really just the passionate people.

At the end of the day, if there wasn't a great bunch of people driving the projects, holding the GVI standards up, and interacting with our candidates, there would be no business.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

It is definitely the people, along with clear direction from the leaders in the business. If the right people are doing the right thing with the right direction, there is nothing that can stand in its way.
