Sally is an energetic young lady who has a strong passion for youth development issues with particular attention on women and girls. She is in charge of volunteer enquirers, processing volunteer applications as well as coordinating volunteer activities including sightseeing.

Having volunteered with both national and international organizations has given her the in-depth knowledge and understanding of volunteer's needs and concerns especially first time travelers.

What is your favorite travel memory?

During a summit in South Africa in 2010, I happened to share ideas with some renowned women activists on ways to empower and support women. This helped me birth my organization, which seeks to support women.

This summit was about fighting violence against women using the 2010 World Cup in South Africa as a spotlight to get us in front of the world. Being at such an event during the World Cup was just a dream come through.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Starting an organization from the grassroots to work for people at the grassroots has been a big experience. I have learned to know people and understand people base on their demography.

Organizing and designing tailored made projects and travel plans for volunteers has been rewarding. Also, having to be available 24/7 to attend to volunteer enquirers and concerns has helped me to be very resilient.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

A quote from one of the volunteers:

"I got so much more out of two weeks in Ghana than I could have got out of a practical work placement here in the UK, and the exposure really consolidated the fact that I want to be a nurse, so I am now heading to university in September to study adult nursing with a view to using this clinical knowledge to contribute to the health of many different patients around the world."

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

Our creative art project which works on the creativity and the Intelligence quotient of children and persons with special needs is one project so dear to my heart.

I believe every child with or without a disability has the potential to create something when given the opportunity. Also, my love to use colours, music, and drama makes me love this project.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

We are a people centred organisation which believes in teamwork to achieve the common goal of connecting volunteers to projects where volunteers get a life changing experience whilst they impact the lives of people whose lives depends on it.

Also, volunteering with us means that you are helping to keep a girl in school through our sanitary towel project.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

I believe, for an organisation to be successful, they should have the welfare of their members at heart. The organisation should be focus on their policies and goals.

It should have a leader who brings the good in each team member and build up their capacity, which in effect will boost the morale of the people to work and bring out their best.
