What is your favorite travel memory?
My favorite travel memory is from when I was conducting research for my thesis project, which involved diving for a benthic survey. During one memorable dive, a melanistic manta (or Ninja Manta) swam alongside me for several minutes. It was an extraordinary moment she observed me and the Benthic structure, creating a unique memory. This experience not only enriched my research but also left me with a profound appreciation for the wonders of marine life and the importance of conservation.
How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?
Working in a close-knit environment at my current company has been a catalyst for both personal and professional growth. Interacting closely with interns from diverse backgrounds has broadened my perspective, allowing me to appreciate and nurture their strengths while helping them navigate challenges in their diving careers. This mentorship role has been incredibly rewarding. Additionally, understanding the intricacies of logistics in a remote location has honed my problem-solving skills and enhanced my adaptability. Overall, this experience has not only deepened my connection with colleagues but has also equipped me with valuable skills in teamwork, mentorship, and logistics management, contributing significantly to my overall growth in this dynamic work setting.
What is the best story you've heard from a return student?
The most rewarding story I've heard from a returning student is about their initial uncertainty and limited diving skills upon arrival. After completing the program, they reached out to express profound gratitude, sharing how our work had transformed them. They highlighted a significant improvement in their awareness, not just in diving skills but also in gaining clarity about their aspirations. It's incredibly fulfilling to witness such personal growth and impact through our programs.
If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?
I would choose the Raja Ampat program without hesitation. The extraordinary underwater life, renowned globally, is a diver's dream. Beyond that, the chance to immerse in the remote and unique environment of Raja Ampat adds something more to the experience, with the possibility to share moments with our local staff as well. It gives opportunity to explore a pristine marine paradise and contribute to its preservation while embracing the feeling of living in such a remarkable and remote location.

What makes this company unique is the integration of divemaster and research programs, providing a unique and comprehensive experience. This distinctive approach adds significant value compared to other programs worldwide. I take pride in our team's ability to foster a deep understanding of our goals. I'm proud of our team during challenging moments; effective communication and collaborative problem-solving have been crucial. I am especially proud of our collective ability to navigate differing perspectives positively and find common ground, ensuring the success of the program.

The biggest factor in being a successful company is fostering positive dynamics within the working team. A cohesive, supportive atmosphere where team members collaborate and uplift each other is a must. Additionally, understanding and connecting with customers to provide a unique and life-changing experience contributes significantly to success. It's not just about the program, it's about creating a positive, memorable impact that resonates with customers, ensuring long-term satisfaction, that will bring them to share their experience in their future diving careers.
