What is your favorite travel memory?
One of my favorite travel memories was guiding a group of international students through the streets of Beijing during their first week in China. We explored hidden hutongs, tasted authentic street food, and shared laughs despite language barriers. Seeing the students’ faces light up as they experienced Chinese culture for the first time was unforgettable. It reminded me that travel is not just about visiting a place—it’s about the connections you make and the personal growth you experience along the way. That day captured the very essence of what Go Abroad China stands for: creating life-changing moments through cultural immersion.
How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?
Working at Go Abroad China has given me a deeper appreciation for the power of cultural exchange. I’ve become more adaptable, patient, and resourceful when navigating cross-cultural challenges. Managing programs for students from over 50 countries has sharpened my problem-solving skills and taught me the value of empathy in building trust. I’ve also gained a richer understanding of how education can be transformed through hands-on experiences. Every program I help coordinate reinforces my belief in global learning and motivates me to create more meaningful opportunities for others to grow both professionally and personally.
What is the best story you've heard from a return student?
One of my favorite stories came from a student who joined our internship program in Shanghai. She started as a marketing intern at a local startup, unsure of her career path. By the end of her placement, she had contributed to a successful product launch, developed lifelong friendships, and discovered a passion for international business. A year later, she reached out to share that she had secured a full-time role at an international company, directly because of the skills and confidence she gained in China. Her journey showed how our programs can truly shape careers and change lives.
If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?
I would choose the Gap Year Learn Chinese & Internship Program in Beijing. It combines intensive language learning with hands-on work experience, which is the perfect balance of academic and professional growth. The program’s structure allows participants to improve their Mandarin while gaining industry-specific skills through an internship. Immersing myself in the local culture while building a professional network in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies would be an incredible opportunity. It’s the kind of experience that develops not only language proficiency, but also cultural understanding and global career readiness.
What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?
Go Abroad China stands out for its full-service approach—we don’t just place students in programs, we provide ongoing support from arrival to departure. From airport pickup to cultural activities and mentorship, every detail is designed to ensure participants feel welcomed and supported. I was especially proud of our team during the COVID-19 pandemic when travel restrictions were at their peak. We quickly adapted by launching online internship and language programs, ensuring students could still gain valuable experiences despite global uncertainty. Our flexibility, innovation, and dedication to students truly highlight what makes us unique.
What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?
The biggest factor is delivering on promises while constantly exceeding expectations. At Go Abroad China, success comes from listening to our participants, understanding their needs, and tailoring programs to maximize their growth. We prioritize quality partnerships with trusted organizations, invest in excellent on-the-ground support, and foster a team culture built on care and commitment. Consistency in service and genuine passion for our mission has earned us the trust of students, parents, and universities worldwide. By staying adaptable and putting participants first, we continue to grow while making a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
