Job Description

We’re hiring a dynamic, entrepreneurial Outreach & Special Projects Manager ​​to lead the end-to-end production of our virtual & in-person events, orchestrate community-centered marketing campaigns, and support the development of special projects at the company level as the international education and travel industries regain momentum.

As a highly-organized, empathetic community builder, you’ll be responsible for facilitating connections between community members, partner organizations, and fellow Go Overseas team members by producing a wide variety of events and special projects. From empowering high school students to take a gap year through the USA Gap Year Fairs event series to managing logistics for company participation in industry conferences, you’ll help our community of travelers and partner organizations come together in meaningful ways through strategic and innovative marketing campaigns. Internally, you’ll collaborate with the management team on special, cross-functional projects to help support the regrowth of the international education & travel industries.

In this role, you will wear many hats and work cross-functionally with different teams, both inside and outside of the company. You report directly to our COO, Alia Pialtos.

Your core responsibilities:

Community events project management

  • Manage all virtual & in-person event logistics by researching and securing venues, planning and managing our events' calendar, negotiating quotes and agreements with vendors, assisting with event marketing, monitoring timeframes and budgets, including the USA Gap Year Fairs series
  • Design & host engaging educational events for diverse audiences of Go Overseas community members (high school & university students, parents, educators, etc.)
  • Help participating organizations and attendees optimize their participation in events by developing landing pages, event video tutorials, FAQs, emails, and training materials
  • Collect and analyze qualitative event feedback and quantitative data to track and improve the impact, effectiveness, and quality of events
  • Lead cross-functional team meetings effectively & efficiently
  • Set ambitious goals for your team and monitor progress towards quarterly OKRs
  • Collaborate with COO & management team to develop and test strategies to grow community events

Community outreach & communications

  • Create emails, social media, and other marketing collateral to promote events with marketing team
  • Develop event-focused community outreach strategy
  • Foster relationships with educational institutions and partner organizations
  • Respond to questions from the community via email and social media
  • Field press inquiries and act as Go Overseas & USA Gap Year Fairs brand ambassador while advocating for meaningful travel
  • Manage support staff, interns, volunteers, and/or part time marketing & events contractors to assist with community outreach & event production, as needed

Special projects management & support

  • Provide project management & marketing support of annual scholarship & travel giveaway campaigns
  • Provide operational support to the company, working closely with our COO to optimize systems efficiencies related to effective team communication, project management, expense reporting, business travel, professional development, etc.
  • Support our Partner Growth team’s participation in industry conferences (i.e. NAFSA, The Forum on Education Abroad, WYSTC, EAIE, Gap Year Association, etc.) by managing conference logistics, researching memberships, securing venues for receptions, coordinating team travel, negotiating quotes and agreements with vendors, assisting with event marketing, monitoring timeframes and budgets, and optimizing networking opportunities
  • Collaborate with our management team to research and develop special projects to help support the international education field and accelerate business development

  • Experience facilitating interactive discussions and/or running engaging educational events, both virtually and in-person
  • A knack for creating engaging email & social media content
  • Experience with taking a gap year, studying abroad, working abroad, teaching abroad, interning abroad, volunteering abroad, living abroad, or the desire to help encourage others to do so!
  • A preference to work within fast-paced, always-changing environments
  • A familiarity with or strong interest in learning how to use company systems -- Google Suite, Asana, Zoom webinars, HubSpot, Airtable, Zapier, Google Analytics, Mailchimp, Later, Canva
  • The ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines

Contract Details

  • Remote, US-based
  • Strong preference for residents based in CA, OR, WA, AZ, MA, CO
  • Must work within US Pacific and Eastern time zones
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends to run events
  • Must be available to travel up to 30% of the year for in-person events, COVID permitting
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to lift 30 lbs
