About Go Overseas
As a community-centered resource for programs abroad, verified alumni reviews, travel articles, and scholarships, Go Overseas aims to connect our community with the most reliable information about global opportunities. About the role
Do you love meaningful travel? Are you a natural storyteller with a knack for making others as excited about something as you are? Do you have a passion for content creation and a curiosity for learning within a fast-paced startup environment of mission-driven travelers?
We’re hiring a dynamic, creative Content & Community Intern to help support our core marketing initiatives, connect with our evergrowing Go Overseas community, and create innovative, engaging digital content. In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally to implement marketing strategies that bring new prospective travelers to the site, encourage return visits, and spread brand awareness.
From crafting inspiring videos that capture the excitement of studying abroad, creating infographics about teaching salaries in Asia, to guiding community members in finding the program of their dreams, you’ll grow your digital marketing, communication, and design skills while helping our community get excited about perspective-changing travel.
Your day-to-day will be as varied and exciting as the programs on Go Overseas, and you will have the opportunity to grow and take on as much responsibility as your time and ambition will allow. Our Content & Community Intern will report directly to our Marketing & Brand Strategist, Eliz Aquino.
Responsibilities
1. Content Creation
- Create engaging email, on-site, and social media content, including short-form videos for IG & TikTok, that reflects the Go Overseas brand via multiple channels
- Write helpful and engaging copy across social media channels
- Film videos for our YouTube channel, as needed
- Create infographics and other marketing materials using our existing templates, to be used on social media, flyers, and blog
- Brainstorm and pitch new content ideas and topics
- Learn how to monitor and increase engagement metrics
- Collaborate with our marketing team to help manage our marketing calendar
2. Community-building
- Connect with community members to highlight and showcase unique travel stories
- Moderate and respond to community questions via emails and DMs on social media
- Complete community-focused content dailies
3. Brand & User Research & Development
- Offer input on brand development
- Assist with user research to help inform marketing strategy, brand strategy & UX
- Stay up-to-date with market and industry trends

- Strong verbal & written communicator: Can comfortably and eagerly jump in front of a camera to record a video or write a helpful reply to a curious community member
- Eye for design & content creation: A strong interest or experience in short form video production and editing, graphic design, and/or copywriting
- Empathetic: Experience with customer support and/or community engagement, and cares for the needs of our community members.
- Creative & innovative: GO-getter packed with fresh ideas (pun-intended), excited to learn and grow!
- Fan of travel & pop culture: Travel is fun, exciting, and brings people together, and we think our marketing should too! If you’re excited about creating relatable and witty travel content and can craft a meme on the fly, you may be the right fit for this role!
- Positive team player: Maintains a positive attitude throughout communications and enjoys working collaboratively with team members and building relationships with our community
- Responsible: Self-motivated, and detail-oriented individual ready to work both collaboratively and independently, while meeting tight deadlines
Nice-to-Haves:
- Firsthand experience with one or more of the following is a plus (but not a requirement!): studying abroad, working abroad, teaching abroad, interning abroad, volunteering abroad, living abroad, and/or taking a gap year
- Current student, recent graduate, or bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, business, public relations, communications, new media, design, education, global studies, international relations, or other related field
- Familiarity with key company systems: Google Suite, Asana, Mailchimp, Slack, Canva, Later, HubSpot, Google Analytics, Zoom webinars
Location: Remote. The selected candidate will collaborate with our west coast team members.
Contract details:
- $16/hr
- Candidate commit to ~10-15 hours per week for 10 months
- Remote: The selected candidate will collaborate most with our west coast US-based team member, and needs to be available for weekly scheduled meetings between 9am-5pm PST, although most of this work can be completed asynchronously
- Ideal start date: August 2024
- Potential for an extended and/or expanded contract, dependent upon company needs and performance
- Potential for academic credit, dependent upon request and academic requirements
