Job Description

We are seeking doctors, nurses and paramedics to join our sustainable development programmes as Volunteer Medics from May/June to September 2020. We are recruiting across all three of our project countries; Tanzania, Nepal and Costa Rica.

Develop your Expedition medicine skills and support groups of young people in this essential role on our overseas programmes. These range from our Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) projects in rural communities to environmental preservation work in protected areas; and supporting young people to develop sustainable livelihoods.

You will:

- Look after the general health of our volunteers and manage any medical emergencies where necessary.
- Deliver first aid training at the beginning of the programme.
- Work from our field base, and support groups of young people remotely or on project support visits.
- Be part of the central operations team that responds to incidents.
- Encourage and motivate the volunteers to effectively deliver their projects while helping to facilitate their own personal development.

"Whether you’re an experienced expedition Medic or if you’re after a brand new adventure, you will not regret it. I feel like I’m coming away with more confidence in my skills, as well as treasured memories of a beautiful place and beautiful people."

Kasey, Raleigh Costa Rica Medic, 2018.

"Raleigh is held in high regard by other organisations around the world and my time with you has helped my career enormously. Watching the volunteers meld into a team and mature was uplifting and added to my leadership experience, and staying and working in the villages helped apply principles I'd learnt at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.”
