About Program
This elementary course is intended for people who know very little or no Spanish at all. The objective of this course is to give students basic linguistic and sociocultural tools so that they are able to interact in Spanish in simple daily life situations.
The course is open to any person (international students or foreign residents) interested in learning Spanish at Universidad de Chile.
The course focuses on developing the four communicative skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. All class activities resemble social and work-related environments in order to practice the language in everyday situations. The course also presents significant sociocultural aspects of Chile and Latin America as these contents are essential to effectively interact with native speakers of Spanish.
The course is divided into 2 modules. Two of them introduce students to the basics of vocabulary and grammar. The course meets twice a week for a total of 4,5 hours and extends along 16 weeks.
