Great Way to Experience Working in the Amazon

I interned with ASA in the summer of 2023. The station they have set up is great and the access to the forest is fantastic. You really get to immerse yourself in the Amazon. They offer you a lot of freedom to explore your interests and also show you the ropes with their research projects. There are lots of opportunities while there to see and experience Puerto Maldonado and the greater Madre de Dios area, too. The station hosts lots of passionate people from many different places around the world which creates a really cool community. I came away with tons of amazing stories and experiences and I'd definitely encourage you to consider it.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
There's a new most surprising thing every night you go into the forest. The biodiversity of the forest means you may come across something wonderful and then never see it again, only to come across a different amazing creature the next day.
