About Program

Take the first step towards a career in research and conservation!

Whether you're a student, an early-career or aspiring scientist, or just someone interested in tropical biology or conservation, at Finca Las Piedras you will learn through direct, hands-on experience about basic scientific research and applied conservation projects. You can contribute to our projects such as research on butterfly biology, biological inventories, plant phenology, environmental education and sustainable agriculture while living in the Peruvian Amazon.

Our Internship Programs (lasting 4, 8 or 12 weeks) share a common academic structure that includes an exploration of these topics through fieldwork activities and skill-building exercises, readings and guided discussions of the primary scientific literature and in-depth independent study. Interns staying 8 or 12 weeks have the option to carry out an independent research project on a topic of their choosing under the guidance of our qualified staff.
