What is your favorite travel memory?

On course with EPI in Costa Rica, I spent the night walking along a dark, sandy beach with a group of students and research assistants. We came to a quick stop as a leatherback sea turtle, a dark blob the size of a picnic table, powered herself out of the water and up the beach to lay her eggs in a safe spot. Something I'll never forget.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

So much. I've had the opportunity to travel to many of our field sites and experience our research programs first-hand, and I've also met hundreds of incredible EPI alumni who continually give me inspiration and hope for the future of our planet.

Which destination is most underrated? Conversely, which is most overrated?

The Baja Peninsula, where we work, is such an underrated travel spot. The access to nature is unsurpassed, what with migrating whales, thriving sea turtle populations, and beautiful water for snorkeling.

What unique qualities does your company possess?

EPI is the only organization out there that partners students with scientists, researchers, and ongoing field projects. When you travel on an EPI course, you really do become the researcher, and the hands-on access to endangered species and incredible ecosystems is out of this world!

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

To me, it's cultivating the people that make the company run - every dollar that's invested in valuing employees and creating a dynamic, encouraging workplace is well-spent, because it comes through in the service we provide to students and the amount we're able to accomplish.
