The Best 5 Months of My Life

Going to Bocas was the best decision I could’ve made for my gap year! It changed how I view the world and I fell in love with the culture and community there. Everyone is so welcoming and supportive and living on an island in the caribbean is so cool and amazing! One of my favorite things about Bocas is that you get everywhere by water taxi! I was only in a car 3-4 time in my whole 5 months of being there and I loved it. And one thing I loved about Give and Surf if that you get to directly work with the kids in the school centers, I love working and being around kids so getting to see the kids every week made my experience amazing I made so many amazing connections with the kids and their siblings, and I will cherish those relationships and memories forever!

What was your funniest moment?
While being in Bocas one day at one of the preschools we were having a dance party and one of the kids got super into it and basically started break dancing and it was one of the cutest and funniest things I’ve ever seen!
Pros
  • The nature is so gorgeous!
  • You get to be around kids
  • the community is amazing!
Cons
  • ITS HOT (and there’s no AC)
  • Cold showers
