Why choose Global Learning Collective?

The Global Learning Collective (glcollective.org) is the first truly global consortium of educational organizations that share similar values, offer a personal connection to in-country partners, while providing on-the-ground expertise and local access in each region of the globe.

The Collective represents the collaboration of (not the merger of) four personalized, smaller, mission-driven international education organizations. Our shared goal is to connect more corners of the world through this partnership of our like-minded and value-driven organizations. Together, Collective members offer customized, semester, short-term, internship, and service learning programs around the world, with a focus on meaningful, personalized, and authentic experiences.

GLC Experience

This experience was unlike any other for me. I was so grateful for how much I was able to learn. It excited me every day to either learn a new way to work with people, find a solution to a problem, or experience a part of a new culture. This has already fueled my desire to have a career in sustainability and jump started my future international business career. Knowing that I, along with several others, made a real contribution to a real company is the part that I am most proud of. I would recommend this internship to anyone looking to expand their horizons.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I was really nervous when it got time for us to present our findings to the company and other students. However, it went well because my group was very prepared.

Sustainability Institute Volunteer Opportunity

The experience volunteering with the Sustainability Institute was one of gratification, exposure, and growth. Despite the challenges presented by a virtual internship, my peers and I were able to perform some tangible, meaningful work that we know will go a long way in feeding the undernourished and amplifying the biodiversity of local ingredients in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. Yet, in addition, I had the opportunity to take this journey and learn from people from Singapore, South Africa, Malawi, and even India, not to mention the exposure our work and research provided us to the South African culture. It was an incredible experience and one I would recommend to all who have the chance!

What was your funniest moment?
One morning during the general info sessions where we can meet others interning with other host companies around the world, despite it being 7 am local time, we all got up and followed along to a traditional South African tribal dance. I was skeptical at first given I was born with two left feet (oops), but it ended up being great fun!
