Lchokuti Foundation
Why choose Lchokuti Foundation?
We are a community based organization. We offer volunteering opportunities with both our “School Programme” which targets New Dawn Primary School which has a huge lack of teachers, classrooms and resources, as well as our “Informal Education/Advisory Programme” which targets morans, non-school going children, dropouts, women and others and involves health, life skills, literacy etc. advise. The first mentioned also addresses issues like parents’ ignorance and tries to bring those who are in the bush looking after goats back to school.
The project area lies within a pastoralist community of Rendille tribe in Northern Kenya where illiteracy is wide-spread. Life stock (camels, goats, camels) is people's wealth. Many have a different, more primitive view of the world which we aim to broaden also through cultural exchange. We also aid in establishment of businesses. The "School Programme" mainly targets performance, attendance of pupils and parental attitude.
