Maru Action Development Foundation

Maru Action Development Foundation is a grassroots, community-led nonprofit organization based in Kasese, western Uganda, working with local communities to build healthier, more inclusive, economically resilient and climate-resilient communities.

Since 2020, our work has grown from local action following devastating floods and landslides into programs in climate action, environmental restoration, inclusive WASH, livelihoods, youth and women’s empowerment, and community resilience.

We believe communities should lead the solutions that affect their lives. Volunteers joining Maru Foundation have the opportunity to work alongside local leaders, farmers, schools, young people and community groups—not simply deliver activities to communities.

We therefore welcome people who want to learn, share skills, contribute practical ideas and experience community-led development from the ground.
