More Than Compassion

More Than Compassion is a nonprofit organization committed to rewriting the stories of orphans in Guatemala. We work to meet the children’s basic needs and to equip them with skills to succeed in the future through quality education and practical training. Our goal is not to merely delay the onset of poverty for these children, but to empower them to rise above poverty and break the chains of injustice.

Because MTC firmly believes the best way to prepare these kids for the future is through education and English, we founded, constructed, and staffed the School of Hope, a bilingual elementary school for the children of Fundación Salvación orphanage. The school is taught in an immersion format, with over half of our classes offered in English. Eventually, the school will generate income through the tuition fees of students from outside the orphanage and this revenue will be used to auto-finance the school and start a scholarship fund as well.
