Sae Lao - education, training, sustainability

Sae Lao Project

Why choose Sae Lao Project ?

We are an NGO located just outside of Vang Vieng, Laos, dedicated to serving rural communities by offering free English lessons to children and young adults. Our mission is to support local children and young people in their educational journeys. Through our project, individuals gain valuable work experience in hospitality while improving their English skills by working at the Sae Lao Project restaurant, all while receiving a fair wage.

We host international volunteers who commit to teaching for a minimum of two weeks. Additionally, our weekly public-speaking group, Toastmasters, helps students write and deliver speeches, enhancing their confidence, vocabulary, and grammar.

For $18 USD per day, we provide accommodation and three meals to our volunteers.

Sae Lao Project - amazing

Sae Lao’s sense of community is wonderful. As an international volunteer, Sae Lao’s local staff members welcomed me, and the other volunteers, as family, giving it the sense of a home away from home. There is a great balance of teaching and free time, but you’ll likely find yourself longing for more time in the classroom since the students are so lovely and genuinely eager to learn. Sae Lao also provides translators which work alongside volunteers in the classroom. This is an essential component of teaching, since the students are fluent in English, and I think this makes Sae Lao stand out as it demonstrates the project’s attentiveness to supporting volunteers. Overall I highly recommend this experience!

Pros
  • Sense of community
